(NewsNation) — Former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok and former FBI lawyer Lisa Page have been served subpoenas as part of a federal grand jury investigation into the origins of the 2016 Russia probe, a source familiar with the investigation confirmed to NewsNation on Friday.
The grand jury is preparing to issue more than 30 subpoenas total connected to President Donald Trump’s allegations that false claims of collusion between him and Russia during the 2016 election were perpetuated by his political enemies, sources within the Department of Justice and the FBI confirmed.
The subpoenas are part of an investigation into Brennan’s handling of the discredited “Steele dossier” and his role in the alleged weaponization of intelligence during the 2016 election assessment, the source said.
