Rep. Ilhan “Omar” was confronted and asked what her real name is on Friday in Minneapolis as she entered a mosque inside the Karmel Mall of Somalia, the largest shopping center and cultural hub in the nation.
Per Fox, she was “spotted by Fox News Digital at the Karmel Mall of Somalia in Minnesota as she made her way into the Karmel Masjid, inside the mall, for Friday prayers.”
The reporter asked, “Is your name Ilhan Nur Said Elmi or Ilhan Abdullahi Omar?”
“It’s Ilhan Abdullahi Omar. You know it,” the Somali Rep. turned and said. “It’s Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.”

This comes after the Department of Justice identified Omar as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar” in a recent court filing, revealing her real name for the first time.
It was then revealed by sources familiar with the investigation that “Ilhan Omar” is a fake alias used by Ilhan Nur Said Elmi to obtain citizenship in the year 2000, live in the country illegally, and run for office. A former Minnesota federal immigration judge said this could “call into question” every document she’s ever filled out with her fake name, Ilhan Omar.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro also confirmed on Thursday, “Her real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi. You had it absolutely right.” She added, “Her sister is Sahra Nur Said Elmi, and her sister actually wrote a book and talked about the fact that Ilhan is her sister. So, that is her name.”
Notably, Nur Said Elmi is the same name as her brother-husband, Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, whom she married in 2009 in what is believed to have been a fraudulent citizenship scheme, though he never completed the naturalization process and they divorced in 2017. Her sister and her late father also have this last name.
Still, the Somali Congresswoman’s office claimed that the allegation is “completely false,” and “Ilhan Omar is her real name.”
Meanwhile, President Trump has demanded that Nur Said Elmi resign from Congress for using a fake name after previously saying she “might go to jail.”
