US Capitol Locked Down Due to ‘Suspicious Vehicle’; Bomb Squad Responds – Citizen Watch Report

The U.S. Capitol was locked down following a suspicious vehicle incident on Thursday morning. Around 10 a.m., U.S. Capitol Police observed a car driving on the sidewalk near Peace Circle and onto a grassy area near Constitution Avenue and Third Street NW. The driver was quickly detained, and the bomb squad was called to investigate.

Nearby roads were closed, and the public was urged to avoid the area as authorities secured the scene. After a thorough investigation, the bomb squad declared the vehicle safe. The driver, whose name remains undisclosed, was arrested and charged with reckless driving.

This event comes amid heightened security in Washington, D.C., driven by ongoing threats and major upcoming events, including the state funeral of former President Jimmy Carter and former President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
