Trump Questions Susie Wiles’ Future

POLITICO reported that Trump solicited views on replacing Wiles and floated names for the job. Trump calls the report “TOTAL FAKE NEWS.”

President Trump has reportedly started asking allies whether Susie Wiles should remain his White House chief of staff, reopening a fight at the center of his administration as the midterms approach.

POLITICO reported that Trump solicited allies’ views of Wiles and considered potential replacements, citing four people with direct knowledge of the conversations. The report named Stephen Miller, Randy Levine, Steve Witkoff, Bill Pulte, and Kevin McCarthy among the figures Trump has reportedly mentioned or considered.

Trump rejected the account outright. “TOTAL FAKE NEWS,” he said in a statement published by POLITICO, adding that Wiles has his “COMPLETE confidence.” He later told reporters, “I could not be more happy with Susie,” according to C-SPAN footage.

The report still detonated a long-running question: Who controls what reaches the president as his administration faces the political cost of the Iran war?

Speaking with Ben Swann, National File owner and publisher Noel Fritsch said the pressure on Wiles follows the war, gasoline prices, and the household costs voters are absorbing. Fritsch rejected the picture of Wiles as a mere disciplinarian.

“It’s a myth that Suzy is keeping a tight ship. Suzy is the queen of leaks.” — Noel Fritsch

National File’s scrutiny of Wiles predates this week’s personnel report. A November 2025 National File report documented Fritsch’s view that Wiles stands at the center of an old-guard lobby and political network inside the White House. A separate National File investigation examined her past work at Ballard Partners and Mercury Public Affairs, including Mercury’s reported lobbying work for Chinese companies.

Fritsch said the White House’s internal exodus will accelerate after the midterms and warned that a Wiles departure would not necessarily restore America First influence. He pointed to the reported names around the job and said the same political-professional class stands ready to move in.
