On Wednesday, President Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at ending what he calls “radical indoctrination” in K-12 schools. This order bars federal funds from institutions that teach Critical Race Theory (CRT) or gender ideology.
In the executive order, Trump emphasized that parents trust American schools to provide their children with a rigorous education and to instill a patriotic admiration for the nation and its values. However, he noted that in recent years, parents have witnessed schools indoctrinating their children with radical, anti-American ideologies while deliberately blocking parental oversight.
The order prohibits federal funding for schools that promote CRT or radical gender ideology. It directs the Secretary of Education and the Secretary of Defense to create a strategy within 90 days to end such indoctrination in K-12 education. Additionally, the order reinstates the 1776 Commission, which Trump created during his first term to promote patriotic education.
CRT, typically taught at the collegiate level, posits that race is a social construct embedded in American institutions. The order cites examples such as the Albemarle County School District in Virginia, which allegedly created an anti-racism policy that taught a student her achievement was based on her race. The administration claims this incident resulted from CRT.
The order also targets “radical gender ideology,” instructing the Attorney General to work with state attorneys general and local district attorneys to file actions against teachers and school officials who sexually exploit minors or practice medicine without a license through social transition practices. Examples include a school district in Virginia requiring teachers to use a student’s preferred name and pronouns and a district in Wisconsin adopting a policy to disrupt the gender binary.
While the order threatens federal funding to K-12 schools, it’s important to note that only around 10% of public school funding comes from the federal government, with most funding coming from state and local governments.
Trump signed an Executive Order which would strip funding from schools who teach radical gender and race ideology. This school should be investigated.
