Yet another crocodile attack today near Cooktown has furthered calls by Katters Australian Party for Labor to support their Crocodile Control and Conservation Bill 2024 which would remove large crocodiles from settled areas.

A fisherman was taken today at the Annan River crossing seven kilometres south of Cooktown, while his family looked on.

The man in his 40’s slipped into the Annan River while fishing and his horrified family watched as a large croc pulled him under water.

A search operation is underway near the bridge.

KAP candidate for Cook Duane Amos has asked how many more innocent people will be killed by crocs before the Labor government takes positive action.

The Liberal Party has had numerous opportunities in the past to support the KAP crocodile control initiative but has refused to do so, Mr Amos pointed out.

Crocodiles have infested waterways on the Tablelands with continuous sightings in the Barron River near Mareeba and numerous smaller creeks.

“It’s time we create a Crocodile Authority to manage the huge explosion in their numbers over the past 10 years throughout the state,” Mr Amos said.
