QUEENSLAND Premier David Crisafuli is suddenly looking like just another corporate politician caving in to the policy straight-jacket of the World Economic Forum and UN.
During the last sitting of State Parliament Crisafuli presented an unprecedented motion to ban debates on abortion for four years. This effectively prevents any changes to the Termination of Pregnancy Act which was passed in 2018, legalising abortion in the state, but also leading to a situation where live-birth abortions result in infants being left to die in hospital kidney trays.
Katter’s Australia Party MP Robbie Katter was shocked by this situation and vowed to reform Queensland’s abortion laws. But now his private member’s “Babies Born Alive Bill” to do that has effectively been blocked by the LNP. How ironic, as Crisafulli voted in 2018 against the Bill to decriminalise abortion.
Crisafule, supposedly a Catholic, betrayed many pro-life Christians across the state by pledging during the election campaign that there would be no changes to abortion laws. Labor and the Greens, of course, took this as political spin and like jackals moving in for the kill, ramped up a big scare campaign that the LNP would restrict abortion or “reproductive rights” as they call it.
But Crisafuli and his weak leftist aka “centrist” comrades patted themselves on the back by sticking to their promise and protecting the brutal abortion practices extended by Labor and the Greens further into leaving living, breathing infants to die in bins.
Speaking against the Crisafuli motion Katter said “I’m absolutely gobsmacked that there’s kids dying in bins. That’s the Coroner’s report, that’s not speculation, that’s not disputed – there’s kids with hearts still pumping – some will say ‘is it alive or not?’ – it’s been thrown in a waste bin. Now that’s a big issue …”
Crisafulli introduced the motion without prior notice after question time in parliament, allowing only 30 minutes for debate before pushing it through with the LNP majority. And of course all those highly-principled “evangelical” MPs like his deputy Jarrod Bleijie voted like sheep with the “party boss”.
On that basis the Opposition leader Miles led his howling pack of jackals to condemn this process, stating that it was “extraordinary” and that Crisafulli is “so weak he cannot control his own party”.
If Robbie Katter had reintroduced the “Babies Born Alive” Bill, this would almost certainly have forced a vote on the issue and it has been a longstanding practice of the LNP party room to grant MPs a conscience vote without influence of the party on matters of life or death.
At a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, KAP MP Nick Dametto said warned that it was the “death of democracy”. “I think Queenslanders today should be mourning the death of democracy here in the Queensland parliament,” .
