The betrayal started in the lobby of his Florida golf club, where a select group of associates cornered the president. Bernd Lembcke, Mar-a-Lago’s former manager, led the charge, joined by Peter Petrina of the Seasonal Employment Alliance and Adrian Tudor, a manager at Trump International Golf Club. They demanded more seasonal guest workers, citing urgent labor needs.
The H-2B program is a favorite tool for businesses seeking cheap labor. Trump’s own properties, including Mar-a-Lago, rely heavily on these temporary foreign workers, a blatant contradiction of his promises to prioritize American jobs.
Last year, the administration planned to slash H-2B visa slots by nearly 50 percent, but weeks after the Mar-a-Lago meeting, the administration abruptly caved. The Department of Homeland Security authorized the maximum 64,716 additional visas allowed by law.
