On Saturday, Elon Musk announced that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has already made substantial cuts in government spending. These reductions are so significant that DOGE and the Trump administration aim to slash the national deficit in half by the end of this fiscal year.
In Joe Biden’s last year in office, the US deficit reached a staggering $1.8 trillion in 2024. This figure marked one of the highest deficits in recent history. However, with Elon Musk leading DOGE, the plan is to cut $1 trillion off that number.
The DOGE team has been diligently working to identify areas where government spending can be reduced. By canceling unnecessary contracts, streamlining operations, and implementing cost-saving measures, they have managed to achieve these significant cuts in just a short period.
