Several Democratic Lawmakers were asked over the weekend for their thoughts on Maine Democratic Senate candidate Troy Jackson marrying his cousin.
Jackson was thrust into the spotlight when the Democrats forced former Senate nominee Graham Platner to drop out of the race due to scandals surrounding allegations of sexual assault and abuse.
It was revealed last month by Maine Wire editor-in-chief Steve Robinson that Jackson’s wife is actually his second cousin. The pair had two children together.
“Jackson, a 26-year politician and lobbyist, has made a career of bragging that he’s a is a fifth-generation logger, but you don’t have to go far back the generational line to find where it crosses paths with the ancestors of his significant other Lana M. Pelletier,” Robinson reported.
“Jackson and Pelletier share the same great-grandparents: Thomas Pelletier and Edith Thibodeau. Thomas and Edith’s daughter Albertine was Troy’s grandmother; their son Louis Sr. was Lana’s grandfather. That makes Troy and Lana second cousins on the Pelletier line.”
Robinson’s findings were widely reported on, including by liberal outlets, but Democratic Senators purported to be living under a rock when confronted on the reporting. Either way, they stood by Jackson and emphasized their support for the Democratic nominee.
“I haven’t seen that,” said Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI). Jon Ossoff (D-GA) also said, “I haven’t seen it,” but noted that he’s supporting the Democratic nominees in Michigan and in Maine.
Senator Angus King of Maine, the same state as Troy Jackson, said, “I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m not going to comment on it.”
Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) claimed, “I haven’t heard of these reports. Troy Jackson is somebody who is obviously in this fight for working people.” Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-MD) said, “I don’t know anything about that, but what I do know is that we have got to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.”
Alsobrooks added, “If you ask me who I’m supporting, I’m supporting whoever the nominee in every single state, the Democratic nominee, because we are going to have to take back the House and take back the Senate as well.”

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Troy Jackson addressed the report last month, and he didn’t deny it!
Instead, his campaign chalked it up as “Personal attacks on Troy’s family” as if there’s nothing wrong with marrying your own relative.
“Susan Collins will do anything to distract from the fact that she votes with Trump 96% of the time and has sold out working people in Maine. Personal attacks on Troy’s family are shameful and desperate,” the Jackson campaign said in a statement to Fox News.
