THEY call themselves “centrists”, “moderates” or even “wets”, but it is becoming clearer by the day that these Liberal Party infiltrators are little more than than the standard leftists or “progressives” – people who progressively destroy Australia’s economic and social fabric.
As Cairns News has previously said, they would easily slip into a party seat with the Teals, the more moderate Greens or even Labor.
In Western Australia the Liberal Party leader Basil Zempilas has been issued a warning by Matt Sheahan, leader of the conservative political action group Advance, that they are “going after him”.
Zempilas says he is “very comfortable” with Welcome to Country ceremonies, wants to continue the divisive act of flying Indigenous flags next to or instead of the Australian Flag and still wants net zero.
“Weak. Weak. And Weak,” is how Sheahan describes Zempilas. “And that’s exactly why we went after him.”
A recent headline in The Australian read: “Advance shreds Basil Zempilas and issues warning to other Coalition MPs”.
“Because mainstream Australians are doing it tough, and they are sick and tired of being betrayed by piss-weak politicians, including some Liberal and National MPs,” says Sheahan in an email to supporters.
“Advance is here to give you a voice when your leaders refuse to. And it’s not just politicians who have gone weak.
“The sad fact is that those who say they’re on the side of ‘common sense’ – even those who call themselves conservatives – are still getting it so, so wrong.
“They are turning their backs on the men and women who built this country and keep it running day in, day out, and that’s exactly why we’re fighting tooth and nail against net zero.
“Not just because it’s wrong, or that it’s destructive, or that it will impoverish us before it will fix anything – all of which is true. It’s also because Australians never voted for Net Zero.
“Aussies are sceptical. The elites haven’t even properly explained net zero, and despite two decades of politicians from all sides forcing it down our throats, most Australians still see it for what it is – a scam that drives up electricity prices while foreign companies and local grifters make off with your hard earned money.”
Sheahan, however, says another WA Liberal, Andrew Hastie, is “a politician who listens”.
“He was on the front foot this week, standing on the side of Austalians. He stood up against net zero. He voted against Welcomes to Country and called out the harm that mass immigration is doing to our country. And he supports a country that rallies beneath just one flag: the Australian flag.
“Advance will always stand with those who stand with mainstream Australians and we will always come for those who stand against them. Weak Coalition politicians, watch out. “If you think we are bluffing, just give Adam Bandt a call.”
Zempilas and other leftie Libs are, of course, liked or at least tolerated by a large segment of mainsteam media, and The West Australian recently ran a drooling report on Zempilas and his family holidaying in Greece.
Labor politicians also play left-leaning Liberals off against the conservatives, a case in point being WA Labor’s cardboard cut-out Police Minister Reece Whitby calling out Zempilas for “failing to show leadership and stand up against his colleagues’ moves to scrap firearms laws designed to make the community safer.”
Whitby knows very well that Zempilas is most likely privately anti-private firearm ownership and was playing the old game of wedge politics. But the Libs fully deserve it because of their compromising ways.
Cairns News believes it’s time for the Coalition to wake up and follow the lead of Barnaby Joyce in exposing the gross folly of net zero and being a real opposition.
The May 2025 editorial in The Spectator Australia, not-so-subtly headlined D-I-V-O-R-C-E, tackled this very same issue with reference to net zero and socialism within the Liberals: “Make no mistake, net zero is communism, or, at the very least, global socialism. There are no longer any environmental arguments whatsoever that justify Australia restructuring its entire economy , its industry, its manufacturing, its transportation, its farming, its construction industry and everyday lifestyles in order ot remove all carbon emissions from our continent.”
But the leftist-globalist rot in the Liberal Party runs deep, going back to ex-PMs like Malcolm Fraser and Malcolm Turnbull, and it may require a radical split between the wanna-be Teals crowd led by Sussan Ley and conservatives led by Hastie, Alex Antic and others.
But the Liberal backroom kingpins, who are not about principles or values but all about political game-playing, would seek to avoid a deep split like the plague because they know the mob on the other side of the House would go on a ballistic mockfest – not to mention the “oh shock horror” media fallout.
