I can’t even begin to express how shocked I was to learn this: 14 million people are receiving disability payments every month. Back in 1995, that number was around 4 million. The increase is staggering, and it’s hard not to wonder why the system has expanded so rapidly. What’s even more disturbing is the amount of fraud within federal entitlement programs. It’s worse than we could ever imagine. The abuse of the system is costing taxpayers, and the people who genuinely need help are the ones who suffer the most. This is a huge wake-up call about the state of our government’s safety net.
