A distressing night on January 22, 2025, shook San Antonio’s Stone Oak neighborhood when a series of tragic events led to seven police officers being injured in a shooting. The unfolding drama began with a distress call about a potential suicide at an apartment complex. As officers arrived on the scene, they were met with an unexpected and violent attack. Brandon Scott Poulos, a 46-year-old man with a troubling history of violent offenses, began shooting at the responding officers.

Poulos had been detained on January 18 for serious violent crimes and drunk driving but was released on bond the next day. On January 22, he violated a protective order, which escalated into a deadly confrontation with law enforcement. As officers attempted to approach his apartment, Poulos fortified himself inside and opened fire, injuring seven officers in the process.
